Sonata Sounds

Website design
Project Overview
Sonata is unique amongst music licensing libraries. Unlike their competitors, their library is made up of real authentic artists, not boring stock tracks. With its revolutionary, simple licensing model, Sonata isa no-brainer for creatives who need great music in their projects.
My Contributions
I led the design of the Sonata website, an online platform which allows users to browse a library of tracks, artists and playlists, and licence them for use in their projects.

Sonata Website

Lead UI/UX Designer
I was with this project from inception, and designed the original user flows and wireframes that would make up the finished site. I designed the final UI and UX and I also contributed the majority of the front-end development work on the UI. This was a complicated project, with a Spotify-esque interface, allowing users to play tracks with a fully-featured built-in music player, as well as add tracks to favourites or custom playlists.

The heart of the platform is a library of amazing music that can be searched, filtered and sorted in powerful ways. Because the quality of the artists on Sonata are so high relative to the competition, we wanted the visuals to be driven by the artist imagery, with a refined monochrome interface that allow the content to shine through.

We did extensive wireframing and prototyping of the user flows.
The homepage was designed to be visually engaging and sell the features of the platform.
The music browser was designed to be minimal and functional, highlighting the rich album art.
