Project Overview
Since opening in Shoreditch in 2011, Grind has grown across London with cafés and a state-of-the-art coffee roastery. During lockdown, they expanded to offer an extremely popular international Coffee-at-Home subscription service. They lead the way in Coffee Pod technology, being the first in the UK to be certified home-compostable. Today, they make more than two million cups of coffee a year across their cafés, and twelve million more are made at home, and by baristas at Soho House. That's one every three seconds.
My Contributions
I led the UI/UX design for Grind's best-in-class mobile app (and Android) that lets customers order ahead and collect their coffee from any Grind Location. It now offers subscriptions and rewards.

I also designed the UI/UX for most of the Grind.co.uk website, including all the subscriptions and online shopping flows.

I designed the Grind app to be the quickest and easiest way to order and pay for your coffee at any Grind. To do this customers need to be able to customise, order and pay for their coffee in any Grind, from anywhere. Paying needed to be simple and secure, so we made it possible to top up a balance and pay by debit or credit card, Apple Pay, or with Grind Reward Points. All coffees ordered automatically earn Reward Points.

Subscriptions are a massive part of the Grind business, so we also built Grind at Home subscriptions natively into the app. Customers are able to manage their subscription and edit individual deliveries so they never run out.

The primary business goal of the Grind.co.uk website is to let customers easily and flexibly set up a coffee subscription. Beyond this, they can buy a variety of products in the online shop, find Grind locations, book a table, and learn more about Grind Coffee. In the video below I've highlighted the sustainability page. We wanted to make something as engaging and dynamic as the business itself, showcasing Grind's huge efforts to provide the world's most sustainable Coffee Pods.
